The news is expected to follow a ruling by European judges next month that insurance companies cannot discriminate between customers on gender.

The European Court of Justice in Strasbourg is expected to rule that giving young women cheaper deals is unlawful. Experts say that young women's premiums could almost double as a result, while young men's could drop slightly.
