That's their operating margin, not their margin including servicing of debt. That would be the net profit margin as you evidently didn't know full well.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for VM charge fees upfront. Last I checked VM and any other operator can charge whatever they want to and you choose to pay it and take the product or not.

There is no argument there, you don't want to pay list price or pay activation fees and are happy to repeatedly phone them to try and avoid them is entirely your choice, there's no discussion of how 'reasonable' or otherwise it is, it's entirely reasonable as they aren't forcing you to pay it and take the product

IMHO unreasonable is charging different people different rates for the same products because one person has the time and knowledge to phone retentions until they get the deal they want and usually repeat the process every year while someone else, evidently loyal as they aren't phoning up to blag discounts, ends up paying more. Your mileage may, of course, vary.
