Re: TiVo

Apologies for using this point in the thread to say my bit, but TiVO is the only thing that can save me from going back to Sky.

Over the past 15 years or so I have yo-yo’d between the two suppliers, generally when I have moved from a cable to non-cable area and vice versa. I moved 18 months ago from a non-cable area and had had enough of Sky, especially the cr*p broadband. So took the opportunity to join Virgin (my previous cable experience was with TeleWest).

I’m in the Southend-on-Sea, Essex area and a V+ HD XL TV customer (two boxes) with L Broadband and M Phone. I’m a big sports fan and although ESPN HD is okay I can’t help that I’m missing out on Sky Sports HD, plus the fact I couldn’t watch sport on the go on my Ipod Touch (Sky Anywhere). The V-Player is limited and again isn’t supported on Ipod Touch / I-phone.

I’ve been reading the various threads with interest, especially the Sky Atlantic one. Again this is another potential problem, Virgin selling channels to Sky (Bravo etc), all the time Sky are increasing the channels numbers and Virgin losing channels!

My bills are nearing £100 every month, something I could nearly half with Sky (free broadband). Yes I know it’s going to be sh*t compared to cable but £50 is a lot to shell out every month!

Basically in a nutshell can TiVO save Virgin from losing my business? How long should I be prepared to wait?
