Yes, outside of the ring he always seemed a very genial man - a whole lot more likeable than some of his peers I have to say.

I'd no idea what he'd been up to in the last 10 years but found these articles (from 2001 and today) which illustrate some of the problems he'd faced since his heyday and what he'd been up to more recently.
