Re: Wanted: Super Duper Beefy Awesome Router

I use Airport Extreme. Not cheap but even more expensive when the VAT rises. (c. £140). From a performance perspective, this is indeed a high end router, uncluttered by a load of lights to get you agitated. (I found that hard to get used to, but Green, Amber, Flashing Amber is all you need!).

What I really liked about it was the Wireless N @ 5 GHz works simultaneously with Wireless N/G at 2.4 GHz. It also provided beteer range from the same location that the old Draytek 2910 with high gain antennae.

I use a Homeplug to drive signal round the house and then distribute onward using a Netgear GB GS108 switch. The choixe of switch turned out to be important. I gained 10 Mbps moving from an el cheapo 100 Mbps switch to the Netgear GS108.

HTH.
