Broadband Issues

Hey guys, I'm using one of the newer Hub's (Netgear) with our 20Mbps connection. I'm using a MacBook (fully updated) and my mum's on an old 2008 Asus laptop, she uses Wireless G and I use Wireless N.

I noticed earlier when I was downloading updates for my Mac that whenever my mum loaded a webpage on her laptop my net would halt, yet if I load pages on my Mac whilst the updates download it goes perfectly fine.

Is it because she's using a different standard to me? I know the Router can support Wireless N, that's why I kept using it instead of a modem/router combo.

I would post upstream/downstream if you need it, but I might've forgot the password for the hub config panel (and can't remember it for the life of me).

Other info you might need:

MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.6.5, using AirPort Wireless (built in) at 802.11N standard, all with latest updates.
Laptop running Windows 7, all with latest drivers using a Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter (built in) at 802.11G standard.

Now, the thing is too, I also have my phone (Blackberry Curve) hooked up to the broadband, as I setup a guest network to let my phone be connected without having to use the main N connection which my Mac runs on. Does this affect anything?

Would really appreciate the help
Adam.
