I can't say I really like this.

While I'm all in favour of reducing the welfare bill and beating people who make a career of welfare back into work with giant tax payer funded sticks this is a quite illiberal, authoritarian way of going about things.

This feels like authoritarianism and big government, aspects of things you don't expect from Liberal Democrats and Conservatives respectively. From the Tories in fact I expect neither.

If the government think these people are playing the system the obvious approach to me would be to change the system so that those who demonstrably avoid work are unable to continue to game it.
