Totally agree on this point especially as the old and feeble argument of kids going to and from school in the dark is a load of pukky. I live adjacent to a school and have to run the gauntlet of parents and their four by fours every morning, I.e. very few kids (that I've seen) actually walk to school, In addition, they finish at around three o'clock when it's still light.
Although the rest of Europe alter their clocks the same as we do, I cannot see why we shouldn't be on the same time zone - if only from a financial point of view - we did it during the last war without any problems! why not now?
Going to work in the dark wouldn't bother me at all - especially if it meant that I could come home when it's reasonably light - when there's still an opportunity to do things in natural daylight.
However this issue is always viewed as low priority from the long trousers in government, so all we can do is suffer with it.
Sigh.................................!
