I like that the first 6 seconds of the video contradict the title of the video and this thread - it's nothing to do with gaining access to people's bank accounts.

It's also nothing to do with coalition government policy, despite the subtext of said video claiming that this is what the coalition government want. This is a consultation by civil servants within the HMRC not government treasury ministers. HMRC are perfectly entitled to run consultations in order to bring the results of those consultations to the government to influence and shape policy.

This is an old story that seems to have come back to life.
