Re: MTU/Update Failed... xBox 360

In a way I'm sorta happy about that as it at least means the wireless adapter/network is 'ok'.

The only things it could therefore be are:

- The router's MTU really is not set high enough (which would mean it's not a red herring after all!)

- My NTL connection doesn't support xBox Live? (I've got the 1MB service in the 3 for £30 offer - is it ok to use xBox Live over that connection?)

If it's the former, I have a problem as there doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the MTU settings on the BT Voyager 1500. I have logged a query with BT Voyager Tech Support and they came back initially and said:

"Open http://192.168.1.1 then click on Advanced.

Click on Quick Setup.

Log in with the admin details.

Click on Next 3 times.

Change mtu settings to required level.

Click on Next again untill you can press finish"

But my config page a) isn't //192.168.1.1 (it's //192.168.1.250) and b) I don't have a 'Quick Setup' option, and nowhere are there options for adjusting MTU (I think they cut and paste this solution from another model's). I've emailed them back and told them this and am waiting for a reply.

If it's the latter problem - any suggestions?

Neil; You've recommended I try directly wiring the 360 to the STB via Ethernet. I'll buy a CAT5 adapter/extension today and give that a go.

Zeph; I'll try your suggestion of registering the router as a new device as well (I think it explains how to do that on the thread Neil posted earlier....

Thanks so far for the suggestions... finger's crossed(!)
