Hyperlinks in programmes?

In a move that is surprisingly reminiscent of Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers (watch the DVD to see what I mean), the BBC is experimenting with way of using Hyperlinks within programmes to link to content on the web.

The system they are experiementing with displays the links on screen, and presumably allows you to select them with the remote control.

The system in use is unlikely to be released for public use, but the BBC are apparently use it to build up an idea of how people will interact with TV in the future.
