Re: Need advice on moving modem to a different room

Don't use CAT5. Use CAT6. If you're going to go to the trouble of laying cable through the loft you may as well make it CAT6 to meet the standard for gigabit networking now to future proof it a little. You will want it when 100meg+ speeds are more normal. Remember how quickly computer stuff moves.
