Will 3D TV succeed?

The Register has an interesting opinion piece on it. Basically they are saying that they think it might not. Apparently it will happen purely because the TV companies are going to have to build support in in case their competitors do, and people may show more interest when there is more content available.

Their reasons for suggesting it might not? Twofold.

1) Apparently in surveys, customers have shown more interest in Internet connections than 3D.
2) There is apparently anecdotal evidence that 3D in cinema is not doing as well as expected, which would suggest that people aren't going to see 3D films after the novelty value has worn off.
