I wouldn't say that. I think he has brought a very energetic and unhinged quality to the role, he certainly is slightly more 'crazy' than previous ones. I am really enjoying him as the doctor and I think this season has been the best of the new ones (I never watched the old ones). Some of that is down to the scripts however and the direction which fells more more polished and tight than I am used to from British shows.
