I like POP3 but can't get it !

Hello members of the Forum.

I have been having a number of issues recently with Blueyonder e-mails. I have tried to investigate via the web but everything I have tried has drawn a blank and I am no further forward.

I have received Blueyonder / Virgin services for a number of years and have always been more than happy with the service. Recently however I have been frustrated by the e-mail service.

Approx a week and a half ago I noticed we had stopped receiving e-mails into Outlook ( 2003 ) When I checked the web mail I noticed a number of posts had not been down loaded via the POP3 system. These included 3 indicating upgrades to the system and its movement to Google. I went back into the settings for the POP3 account and set up as recommended, sent myself a test ( Via Test settings ) and all worked fine. As a backup I activated IMAP as well as POP3.

I am receiving IMAP mail but not POP3 and I find it very frustrating. The web mail settings say POP is enabled but still no downloads. Is it possible IMAP conflicts with POP2 and this is the problem?

I would prefer to use POP 3, it is simpler for the household to use and I notice a huge increase in the amount of spam in the All Mail folder of IMAP. I can’t get my head around the way IMAP works. Messages appear all over the place and you can’t easily delete them. POP3 works for me and I would prefer to stick with it.

I have also noticed, but it is a separate issue, that when I go into Web mail via IE8 it asks for my provider, Blueyonder.co.uk. On the log in page I get the request for username and password etc it then takes me to Google Mail and says Active X is not enabled. Which it is !

Have I missed something obvious in my POP3 settings ? Its set as per the Blueyonder instructions and the ports etc are correct. Why can I not receive via POP3 ?

Any one else having similar problems, have I missed some vital point. Help !!
