As I said earlier, I missed Ireland's song so I can't comment on it. But I know why the UK came bottom. It was because the song, and the performance of it, were utterly, utterly awful.
We were not the victims of block voting, we were the victims of a BBC production that, for some reason, really didn't seem to give two short smegs about Eurovision this year. The "Your Country Needs You" show that was screened earlier this year was absolutely abysmal, from the half dozen utter no-hoper acts that were booked, to the studio production itself: cheap, nasty and with a very obvious lack of rehearsal time. Even the silver-tongued Norton kept tripping over his lines and missing his cues.
