The problem is Channel 4 were not set up to go for ratings. They were initially set up to provide somewhere for new TV producers to experiment with ideas, and to develop new talent.

In recent years, they've almost become the UK home of reality TV, and they seem to be trying to move away from that. They've also dropped Wife Swap, that cleaning programme and a few other shows.

Also, apparently BB is quite expensive to produce. This is probably the main reason they are dropping it. This is the reason they have dropped other shows (e.g. Star Stories).
