First job back up Second job take a ghost image or similar Third job boot from xp disk delete partition and format fully. Fourth job reinstate ghost image.

Are there any other signs of hdd failure? do the check disks find errors? I assume by the fact you have run chkdsk /r its all been done outside windows so did it find any bad sectors? did it complete?
