What do you want to do, it's not clear from your post.
Do you want to follow the Radio 1 DJ, Send them a message via Twitter, or a combination of the above?
To Follow: Go to that DJ's Twitter page. Under their name there will be a Follow Button. Click that and his updates will appear in your twitter stream.
To Send a Message: use the DJ's twitter name (the @name thing) anywhere in your tweet. So: Hello @RadioDJ How are you? That will appear in their stream because of the @RadioDj part
