How's your water pressure? Has that improved too?
Unless you were on a dire valve-powered head-end, I doubt you'd see all of those improvements (I didn't). I'm not sure if it would make a difference if your broadband was via the STB or a cable modem but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't affect the speed. Nor would I expect to see an improvement in STB performance without a significant firmware upgrade to your box.
Maybe the upgrade resolved some contention issues. It would be interesting to hear what you think by the same time next week but we are careering off topic now.
BTW, time for a change of user name I think. Ex-Telewest is so passé!

The NGTV upgrade has to be in place in order to roll out the Nagra 3 upgrade. Once you install the new smart card you're on Nagra 3 but bear in mind that the old Nagra 1 has to run in parallel until everyone has made the change. So 'dodgy' boxes will still work for a while.
