What exactly happens when you right click & "extract here" or what happens if you just double click on the first .rar file? Does the archive manager open at all? Does it display the contents on said .rar if it does open & can you not drag & drop the files directly from the archive manager if it is displaying the contents?
Did you try Richard M`s advice about installing the unrar package?
