I love surfing and email etc with google chrome using linux, i dont have antivirus with it as apparently i dont need it but with windows i use newsgroups etc and just cant seem to get my head round how to do it with linux, i need a step by step guide i think, ive googled myself for hours but to little avail lol

i can access where the tested downloads of small files are but cannot seem to unpack them, even if they are not rar, or zip etc, once i can do that then i'll try to move on to configure newsgroups which ive been doing with windows for years.

Sorry to ramble but i really like linux and would love to be able to do with it what i do with windows, maybe virtually like wine or something.
