whilst the RNLI is voluntary, they will have been co-ordinated by the government (and thus taxpayer funded) coastguard, and perhaps other agencies were involved too?
It is at the moment everyone's right to set sail if they wish to, and perhaps that is one of the few true freedoms we are left as a society to experience.
