Having watched both episodes back to back, I must say that I am hopeful for Matt Smith. I was a bit unsure, during the run-up, but I am pleased so far. The comment about Sly McCoy, is relevant, in that a being who regenerates has to contain some constituent parts of their former selves; I got some David Tenant, Patrick Troughton, Sylvester McCoy and Chris Eccleston myself.
