When The Boat Comes In.
I've just finished watching this superb drama, repeated on Yesterday recently.
As entertainment and education, it is on a par with Upstairs Downstairs and The Forsyte Saga.
When I was young, ignorant and dismissive about the recollections of my parents on their childhood experiences in the 1920s, I would often liken them to the Four Yorkshiremen sketch in which each tries to outdo the other in their definition of being poor and hard done to, fool that I was.
Ironic indeed that it takes a fictionalised drama to teach what I should have known.
Mea Maxima Culpa.
