Moving to ADSL. Do supplied ADSL modems have an ethernet port? Can I connect my router direct or do I have to buy an adsl router?

Thanks
ADSL ISPs are increasingly supplying an ADSL modem/router that by itself does the same job your Linksys router and VM modem are currently doing separately.

If you get an ADSL modem/router you will not need to use the Linksys unit. If you want to use the Linksys unit, then you will need a standalone ADSL modem. You don't see so many of those any more because it's a waste of space having a separate modem and router on your desk when you can combine the two into one.

The only standalone ADSL modem I ever owned was the one supplied to me by VM when I first took up their ADSL service, about 3-4 years ago. That was a Thomson Speedtouch, and was USB only ... no use for connecting to a router.
