Talking Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

@ Gadge

Sorry Gadge this is not the place to state if I work or if I know VM staff.
VM take early press releases/inside Intel serious so to protect myself and others its best not to say - Hope you know what I mean

All I can say is BBC News HD, ESPN America HD and Good Food HD are all coming at some point this year.

As stated and as per TheDon post some of the 11 go get could be part of a Sky exclusive - but depends when that exclusive right finishes - Sky do not own these channels.

I fully expect Nat Geo Wild, Rush, Luxe and Disney to be a easy get for VM. and no doubt be part of the VM 20-30 HD channel line up before end of year.

Plus with VM putting the sale of VMTV on the back burner rumours are they could revert to the original plan which resulted in 1)HD and 2)ReBranding to VM - 2) could be expensive and would only be part rebrand as Living has already gone through rebranding and I can not see that getting redone - although VM class Living as there equal to Sky1 (Not Virgin1)

Also Picture Box the £5 amonth extra for movies which is owned by Universal - talks are ongoing that Picture Box could be crapped with VM&Universal partnering there own Movie Channels to compete against Sky.

The £5 picture box is simply not worked as is costing VM more money that it receives.

Plus there are rumours and these are only rumours that with the TiVo boxes coming to the UK by end of the year TiVo and VM are looking into extending TiVo current Blockbuster deal to the UK or seeing what options they have with Love Film - If true this would replace the Film Flex option we have now or mean Film Flex would be come Box Office like pre DVD release.

All I can say I was with Sky for 10 plus years and for me to move from Sky with what they offer to VM must say what direction VM are going in.

And to add to the above watch out Sky Sports - ESPN are coming.
Fully expect ESPN to out bid Sky on more than one Prem league package when they next come up for bidding - ESPN are a huge Global force.

Remember Sky only get UK rights to Prem League with the Prem League selling Global rights direct - if we all think the current prem deal is crazy then I hate to think what the next deal will be.

And who pays for this? Yep us - does anyone recall Sky reducing the Sports package when Setanta/ESPN had 2 packages - not a chance.

The Future is Bright and the Future is VM.
