It's certainly a nice thought, but surely the fact that two modems have hung does not necessarily mean that they have hung for the same reason?

If 100 of them hung, and you gather that information to see how 'widespread' an issue it is, how do you know that you're not dealing with 100 different problems?

Information such as this in isolation is diagnostically useless, you need more detailed information for each occurrence in order to even begin to establish a pattern between them.
