what makes you think the astronaut is not affected by gravity?
astronauts DO NOT FLOAT they orbit the earth at around 17-18,000 mph the same speed as the vehicle that got them there
think of a piece of elastic with a ball tied to the end spin it round and the ball will "orbit" your hand spin it faster and the ball will get further away from your hand ,spin it fast enough and the elastic will break and the ball will shoot off out of "orbit" of your hand and into "deep space" ,....or the neighbours window
