I think it's an awful idea. It seems bizarre that a team which, over the course of 38 games, were the better team could be knocked out of their Champions League place by a team who finished 3/4 places below them on the back of one game. Last year the difference in points between Arsenal in 4th and Fulham in 7th was 19 points. Yet under this system one game could mean that Fulham, not Arsenal, go into Europe's best competition. That may please people sick of the 'top 4' but Arsenal earned that spot last year and to take it away from them one the back of one or two games renders a large part of the season pointless. If your not in the league title contention then why bother trying to finish are higher than 7th? Might as well rest players for the play-offs and other matches.

More than likely is it will become pointless as the quality of England's 4th entry into the league will drop further and UEFA will just yank the spot.

It also overestimates the money from the Champions League, Arsenal make 13% of their revenue from Europe. Most of their money comes from the Premier League and matchday gates.
