I have upgraded from a 32" 720p set to a 1080p 100Hz set. Wow, I must say I really noticed a difference. I think some of the early LCD's had pretty poor contrast and now the latest 100Hz 1080p sets simply blow the older technology out of the water IMO.

PERSONALLY I would avoid the bottom end of the market. Supermarket own brand stuff etc. I believe that these products are using the older generation panels. My advice set a budget shop around and make sure you visit a dealer where you can compare sets using a controlled source.
