In your house you can kill them if you think your life or others is at risk ( and basically they would have to prove you didn't think that as in court it is not that you were at risk but that you believed you were even if that belief was wrong )
but if you stop them from running away to attack them then you over step the mark
and going outside to threaten people seems to be putting yourself and your family at more risk than locking the doors and phoning the police
