I wouldn't bother with a one box dvd/blu-ray home cinema system, they have limited connectivity options, and often don't support things like trueHD, you're better off getting a dedicated AV reciever which will have multiple HDMI and other inputs, and a speaker set.

£300 is probably on the low side for that, but the quality will be so much better than any one box system. If you can stretch a bit further for £220 you can pick up a Yamaha RXV465 which is pretty damn good, and then a decent 5.1 speaker set will set you back anything from £150 upwards.
