Shutter glasses have been available for some time for PC monitors and a number of flight sim enthusiasts have used them. They do need to be controlled either wirelessly or wired.

Search the forums in the various flight sim web sites for users impressions.

However I would have thought that the passive polarised glasses would be more convenient provided the image quality is good.
