I want to know what all tbe fuss is about. News reports says don't travel unless you have to, extreme severe weather warning for Surrey, blah blah blah. It stopped snowing at midnight with less than 2" on the ground. They were suggesting up to 16" was possible in some places. What an over-reaction. Last February was much much worse with a good 6-8".
Most people have made the effort to get to the office except the two bosses who can't get up their respective hills (despite their having 4 wheel drive cars).
And in any case, surely when they say "don't travel unless you have to", work is a have to reason

What you shouldn't be doing is going on a sightseeing tour to see how bunged up things are. Of course if the authorities really don't want us to venture out, then they should be paying our lost earnings and compensating businesses. But if they had to pay such compensation maybe this country wouldn't grind to a halt in bad weather because there would be a reason for investment in gritters, de-icing trains and all the associated kit needed to keep the country moving.
