Basically, that 300 mbps connection is the connection from router to the laptop but you are restrained to using 10 mbps on the internet, as that as your maximum connection speed. however, if you are transferring files from computer to computer (not using internet) then with the right equipment, you will get up to 300 mbps speeds. hope this helps.
