Today we went shopping locally and were pleased to see a large number of veterans and other volunteers out collecting along the length of our local high street.
The one blot on the landscape came in the form of a BNP stand bedecked with the Union Flag and manned by 3 or 4 people. Just a few yards away a woman of obvious afro-caribbean descent was collecting on behalf of the Salvation Army. To say it made me feel awkward is an understatement but all credit to her for not being intimidated into moving away.
I was also delighted to observe that virtually nobody was paying the BNP the slightest interest!
