I'll admit that its neither big nor clever and we're the first ones to complain when the Jewish chants come out.

The community seems to be split into several groups.

1. You get the hardcore contingent who will say/do anything and don't care what people people think. (Chants: Hissing at Spurs fans, anything with the c-word).

2. You get the middle contingent who aren't bad people but don't want football becoming, for the want of a better term, 'politically correct'. (Chants: Arsene Wenger/referee/Ji-Sung Park etc.)

3. You get the last group who just want a wholesome family environment to bring their kids.

Most if not all football teams will have a mix of the 3. Its difficult doing anything about it because the first group will only stopped when they've been banned (and that's not easy). The middle group is the vast majority of supporters and really what keeps clubs going. If you outlawed any colourful chanting (like #2) then you wouldn't fill stadiums.
