I'm going over to amsterdam next weekend and it would be really useful to be able to use my iphone. Would I be right in thinking if free wifi is used, then i won't have to pay roaming charges?

If i do connect over 3g, then is there a bolt on i can get just to cover myself. I'm only going Friday to Monday, but its helpful to use the google maps app (the best steakhouse in Amsterdam is on the agenda for this visit )
