I do think there is a point where you should separate good ol fashion banter and rivalry with an honest assessment of the football itself. I was bought up in the bad old days when the players got on the bus to the match.Supported Liverpool through very very thin(1959-) old 2ed division a few times I was on the same bus as Alan A'Court
I was at Anfield before Bill Shankly.I was only 5 when I started,An uncle took me although he was an Evertonian.My dad was an Evertonian but would never take me or pay for me so my pocket money went on Liverpool.I left school in 1969 and started to pay my own way,also going to some away games.From about 1971-1989 I went every game in the UK and many European games.I was then in the crush at Hillsborough and was left mentally scared spending time in hospital for panoria etc.Which I still have along with nightmares and flashbacks.So I have never been back to Anfield except for the 19th Hillsborough Anniversary which a very good friend I talked to on the LFC Forums came up from Yorkshire came up and took me taking care of me.
