As the husband of someone who used to deal with people who were in the process of applying for DLA, she's advised me that the process of application is in no way a minefield, and is actually very straight forward.
In fact, I have it on her (very good and knowledgable) word that, in the majority of cases, people who have problems with actually getting DLA is specifically down to them not filling the forms in correctly, or not actually answering the questions that are asked. Maybe it's because they're thick
