Personally I don't think that phone diagnosis ever really works, but hey, if it lightens the strain on other areas it is going to work. Even so, I don't really believe the number of cases - some people might not have it but because they're not swabbing and have a bad cold, which is possible in summer, then they're being told they have flu, etc. As for tamiflu-resistance...
Plus there's always the problem of saying it is flu when in reality it is something more serious - meningitis, for example. If possible, cases should be followed up if there is a possibility it could be something else.
As for the sending a "flu friend", who is likely a close contact of someone who has an infectious virus (so may well be infectious and not have symptoms) out to collect something... it should be delivered.
