vicisoux, I live in Leeds too and ours and my neighbours are up to 10MB. Could you tell me which modem you have ?? Grey modem or Black / Blue ??
Just I was told by the VM web site I needed to upgrade the grey modem, but when I chatted with India CS they cancelled the new modem as they told me the grey modem supports the new speed. So I found the Newgroup support and asked their advice, who told me that the grey modems dont support the 10MB speed and sent me a new modem which is working fully.
