Re: Mansfield teacher arrested over All Saints pupil assault
As you know full and well Russ i do not and am not advocate the use of corporal punishment willy nilly or as a general rule of dealing with any problem. But i do advocate it's use when all other reasonable avenues have been explored and proved to be useless which happens with some kids.
Reality is that we do have a very destructive small core of kids these days for whatever reason and in dealing with those more extreme measures then currently available are needed and should be there to be used by those in proper authority. If this was a one off incident then of course the teacher had no right to react in the way he did and even if it happened a few times before this incident i am sure there are other resolutions.
Fact is we know nothing right now about this young man or how he normally behaves but we do seem to have a well liked and respected teacher that appears to have completely gone off at the deep end. Maybe if for those persistent trouble makers there was a cane or a slipper we wouldn't have teachers reaching the end of their rope.
