There's also the DigitalRegion Project in South Yorkshire that is still in its infancy but looks at providing next generation access (fibre) to Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield areas, connecting every home/business to it.
Actually, i think there was an ISP in Sheffield dealing in Fibre. Ask4 or something?
They supply luxury apartments with Fibre-based services.
Who knows, maybe they will be a part of this?
