Just a little quirk I found by chance with my MSN Windows Live Messenger (latest version). If you have selected "don't show my camera to others - then not only does it not show it to others, but it doesn't show it to yourself either.
I uninstalled, re-installed, and rolled back several versions before I twigged on to that. I think it's a bug (heaven forbid that MS should have bugs), but it doesn't work as previous!
