I don't know the governance of the FIA but there is now no doubt that this rift has brought the sport into disrepute and been brought about totally by the intransigence of Max. It is weird as it's not just FOTA against the FIA but also FOTA against F1 group, BUT F1 and FIA don't seem to be talking to each other and planning together..
Honda walked away as what could F1 do?? Even though the parent company has lots of assets all the teams are run as independant companies with debt far outstripping the assets, F1 or FIA wouldn't gain by court proceedings in any case against an individual team..
Will be interesting to see what they hope to achieve in the FOTA preceedings
