i have exactly the same problem and setup.

i reckon its the router. when the connection drops, everyone is kicked off the network. i was connected to the router via ethernet using the router configuration page. here i was (obviously) only accessing information supplied to me by the router. i heard someone down my corridor say "argh, the internet has dropped out again", and i tried to refresh the router config page i was looking at, and i couldn't. not until the router had come back to life.

i wanted to upgrade the router to the most recent firmware available from netgear, but the custom virgin firmware prevents upgrades from happening (using the conventional method). also this will probably void my warrenty. but there seem to be lots of bug fixes since my current version of V1.0.11_1.0.1VGUK .
