I seem to recall it being stated, possibly by one of the posters who works for VM, that one way to tell is to sign-in to My Virgin Media. If you have been upgraded, then the "welcome page" will say "Broadband package:10Mb M" rather than "2Mb M" as it does now.
You may, of course, decide that it's quicker to unplug the modem's power supply for a couple of seconds instead.
