Why have a separate switch if you can get a router to do what you need. You're just adding to your power consumption by having two devices, even if that power use is small.
Very true, but that router in question is around £120, compared to £40 for a gigabit switch. You'd have to have it powered on for many years for the switch alone to cost you £80 in electricity
